GQ has a piece hating on American Beauty—a great film which I continue to defend and continues to be influential and accessible in a way many films which explore the same themes simply aren’t (Sorry David Lynch!).
I remember catching a few mins of American Beauty on television a while back. It was towards the end of the film but I was so enchanted I ended up watching it all the way to the end and totally forgot what I was watching beforehand.
Still, an interesting read.
